Older heating systems are especially prone to circulation problems as over time the water in your system deposits unwanted byproducts which can turn into an unpleasant, mud-like substance (sludge). This sludge can result in blockages and corrosion which can impair the efficiency of your heating system and in some cases could damage the boiler itself. A Power Flush is a system whereby a chemical solution is introduced into your central heating system via a Power Flush pump with the aim of cleansing and removing deposits of sludge, rust and any other debris from your heating system that may be impacting on how well your heating system is working.
There are several issues that may indicate your system requires a Power Flush for example cold areas on radiators, pipes are hot, but radiators are cold, heating slow to warm up and discoloured water when you bleed the radiators.
A Power Flushing pump is an essential part of our Engineers toolkit. In fact, some Boiler manufacturers now insist that heating systems are properly flushed prior to installing a new boiler to an old system and may even make the warranty conditional on this. We carry out a Power Flush prior to every boiler installation. A thorough Power Flush generally takes 8-10 hrs
